How to Use SendFox with WishList Member

SendFox is a super affordable and surprisingly robust email service provider that integrates flawlessly with WishList Member. If you're reading this, then chances are you've already decided that these two tools merit further research, or maybe you already have both tools and need a little help walking through how to set them up together.

The Benefits of Using SendFox with WLM

The purpose of this integration isn't just to send emails. You can use the default email options inside of WLM to send your members emails and likely the only hurdle would be an SMTP plugin to help with deliverability from your server. Compared to many membership solutions, WLM has great functionality.

Using SendFox with WLM allows you to elevate your email game from static one-off broadcast emails to fully-automated sequences with follow-ups. You can also configure SendFox emails to tag users based on actions they take, such as clicking on specific links in your email, opening an email, etc.

sendfox automations for course creators

This means you can lateral your members from one sequence to another based on their interest and engagement. Imagine selling a course for one topic, then through your automated marketing email sequences you've identified and already begun marketing to an existing student about another one of your course. Emphasis on automation here.

Sounds great, right? Let's look at how to enable this integration.

Enabling SendFox Integration in WishList Member

The first step will be to obtain a Personal Access Token from SendFox.

How to Obtain the Personal Access Token in SendFox for API Connections

  1. Click the Hamburger (3 stacked lines) icon in the upper right corner
  2. Select the "Welcome, Name" section to go to your Account area
  3. Go to API in the left navigation menu
  4. Click 'Create New Token'
  5. Give your token a Name
  6. Copy the Personal Access Token (Note: You won't be able to access this again, so make sure you keep it copied)

Where to find the SendFox Integration inside of WishList Member

Next we'll enable the SendFox integration inside of WLM:

  1. Navigate to WLM > Setup > Integrations > Email Providers.
  2. Select SendFox and Enable
  3. Click the blue Configure button
  4. Paste in your Personal Access Token obtained from SendFox and Save.
  5. Check to see that the API Status says "Connected"

Configure Sending Options in WishList Member

Now that the integration has been set up, we can go to the next tab within the SendFox integration of WLM called "Mailing Lists".

Here you'll see all of the access levels you've configured inside of WLM. Click on the one you want to connect with SendFox.

The dropdown you see now contains all of the "Lists" which are pulled from your SendFox account. Remember to think of these lists like "Tags" from other email service providers. Choose the list you want to add someone to when they purchase your course.

Lastly, you may wish to look at the default emails that are sent from WishList member. Based on your SendFox automations, you might want to either turn off the WLM default emails entirely or edit them to be complementary to your automations so that you aren't inundating someone's inbox with similar emails. A good idea might be to use WLM as the "Here's how you log in" technical email, and the SendFox as more of the "Let's get started" email sequence that drips out over a week or two.

That's it! Pretty simple, right? If you have any questions about utilizing this tech stack, please feel free to leave a comment below and I'll be happy to help. If you'd like to request a tutorial or insight into other services, I'd be happy to take requests.

    Hey Doug
I do have one quick question. Is it possible to send wishlist email notifications through sendfox? I’m thinking of the wishlist “new member registration” which send customers their password and login details…

    • Doug says:

No, it’s not possible. All emails pertaining to account registration go through your website (TAP or WLM).
