Video Summary
In this tutorial, I walk step-by-step through how to build custom checkout forms inside HighLevel using the regular Form Builder — not the default funnel checkout form — so you can create better-looking, more flexible, and more professional checkouts. These custom forms now support order bumps, upsells, and downsells, making them a powerful alternative to the built-in funnel checkout element.
You start by creating a brand-new form under Sites → Forms, and because it’s the standard HighLevel form builder, you can customize literally everything: two-column layouts, custom fields, conditional logic, signatures, and more. Once the structure is set, you add a Sell Product element and select your main offer. You can edit the product’s display, toggle the image and description, and even open the product editor in a new tab to update its details.
Next, you add an Order Bump by inserting a second product inside the form. This creates a beautifully styled bump offer that looks significantly better than the default funnel order bump. You can edit the bump title, description, and image to match your offer.
Before embedding the form into a funnel, you can even hide the unwanted “product checkbox” using a small CSS snippet — added right inside the Form Builder’s custom CSS area — giving you full visual control over the checkout layout.
Once the form is done, you insert it into a funnel page using the Form element and set the form’s submit button action to Go to Next Step. This ensures buyers are immediately taken to the upsell page after purchase.
For the upsell page, you must add the upsell product under the Products tab of that funnel step. This enables One-Click Upsells, which are triggered by adding a button set to:
- Link To: One-Click Up/Downsell Products
- Product: Choose your upsell
- Action: Go to next step (or a specific step for more complex funnels)
Finally, you create the Order Confirmation page and drop in the built-in Order Confirmation element. HighLevel now merges purchases from the form checkout and the funnel upsells into a unified order summary — something that wasn’t possible until recent platform updates.
The end result is a custom, flexible, visually superior checkout experience that supports full funnel functionality: order bumps, upsells, downsells, and clean order reporting.
